Curious?
Good.
What makes Reliq different? Who brings what? And how does a promising connection become something real?
The essentials on discovery, trust and exchanges that work for both sides. The questions
worth asking.
Worth more together.
01What is Reliq?
Reliq is a discovery network connecting remarkable people with businesses, projects and resources they might never find otherwise.
Picture a fabricator creating a standout display for a studio. In return, the studio opens its workshop so she can finish a personal project. One connection unlocks possibilities for both.
We make the valuable—and often overlooked—easier to discover.
02What makes Reliq different?
Hiring platforms start with vacancies. Freelance marketplaces start with rates. Reliq starts with a better question: What could we make possible together?
- Curated discovery. Skills, people, spaces and projects are the focus—not an endless directory of anonymous listings.
- Mutual fit. A great recommendation considers what each side brings and what each hopes to gain.
- More than a price tag. Mentorship, equipment, access, expertise and creative opportunity all carry value.
- Intentional introductions. Interest opens a door; nobody is committed to an exchange without a conversation.
- Community, not transactions. Relationships and repeated collaborations matter more than a one-off deal.
We're not another way to buy a service. We're a new way to recognize what's possible.
03Who's a Reliq—and who's a Reliq Seeker?
A Reliq brings a skill, craft, perspective or useful resource to the table. A Reliq Seeker is a business, founder or team looking for talented collaborators and creative solutions.
The roles shape what you discover first, not what you are allowed to contribute. A business might need a fabricator and offer workshop access. Both sides have value to share.
04Why do Reliqs join?
Because a valuable skill can open more doors than a traditional listing ever could. Reliqs discover spaces, tools, mentors, projects, experiences and people worth knowing.
It's a place to put your abilities in motion, grow your craft and gain access to things that might otherwise feel out of reach. The opportunity should feel worthwhile—not like a request to work for “exposure.”
Make it mutual.
05What can be offered or exchanged?
A photoshoot for studio time. A repair for a lesson. Design support for access to specialist equipment. A business might offer workspace, industry guidance, tools, connections or an unforgettable experience.
The best opportunities make two things clear: what I bring and what I'd love to unlock. Value can take many forms.
06What's Reliq's role in a connection?
Think of Reliq as your opportunity concierge. Our role is to curate meaningful talent and business opportunities, make relevant people easier to discover, explain why a connection could work, and facilitate a thoughtful introduction.
Reliq opens the door. The people involved decide what they can contribute, what they hope to gain and how they want to collaborate. We don't dictate the exchange or take a commission from it.
07How does an exchange actually happen?
Discover → show interest → connect → agree → create. Browse a person or opportunity, save what catches your eye and express interest. An introduction happens intentionally, with the other person's consent.
Both sides then agree on what they'll contribute, what they'll receive and what a successful exchange looks like. A skill can unlock access; a project can unlock mentorship; an unused resource can unlock a brilliant collaborator.
An opportunity should create value for both people involved.
Finding your fit.
08How do recommendations and swipes work?
Personalization is based on mutual fit. Recommendations consider your skills and interests, what you're looking for, what the other side can offer, and whether the opportunity makes sense for both.
We want suggestions to feel human: “We think you'll like this because you're into fabrication and this workshop is nearby.” Browse with filters or swipe through personalized picks, and explore beyond your recommendations whenever curiosity strikes.
A right swipe signals interest—it does not send a trade request. Proposing an exchange is a separate, intentional step. Our matching logic is being refined.
09Can I explore by city or specialty?
Yes. Discovery combines specific skill categories, interests and geography. You can look for a specialist craft, an available studio, a mentorship opportunity or a useful resource in a particular area.
Location also shapes personalized recommendations: what's nearby, what can be done remotely, and which opportunities are worth crossing town for. Relevant discoveries should find you without limiting what you can explore.
10How does the Reliq community grow?
Depth before reach. Reliq's community approach centers on curated city chapters—bringing the right mix of Reliqs, founders, studios and resources into the same orbit.
- People bring people. Referrals and trusted community introductions help maintain relevance.
- Local connections become real. City chapters make room for events, shared projects and collaboration beyond a screen.
- Growth stays thoughtful. Selective outreach brings in specialties and opportunities the community is missing.
East Coast first, with a national chapter network as the ambition. U.S. Census benchmarks can help identify gaps in geographic reach and guide more balanced outreach—not imply the community is a statistically representative sample.
Trust & access.
11How does Reliq build trust and quality?
A verified Reliq badge is about substance, not just a polished profile. Reliq's verification standard brings several checks together:
- Identity. A KYC check helps confirm that a contributor is who they say they are, without displaying sensitive documents publicly.
- Evidence of skill. Work samples, references, demonstrations or certifications help establish capability. A polished portfolio is not required (but welcome).
- Human review. Evidence and unusual submissions receive human judgment—not just an automated score.
- Clear opportunities. Businesses are encouraged to explain both what they need and what they're bringing to the table.
- Respect and accountability. Opt-in contact, community reporting and moderation help people make informed decisions.
Verification creates a stronger starting point for trust; it isn't a guarantee of a particular outcome.
12Who owns work made through an exchange?
The participants decide, together, before work begins. A clear agreement covers ownership, usage rights, credit, confidentiality, workspace or equipment rules, and the contribution expected from each side.
Reliq facilitates discovery and introductions. It doesn't automatically transfer ownership of creative work or make agreements on anyone's behalf.
13What does Reliq cost?
For Reliqs: Individual discovery is free. A verified badge, covering identity (KYC) and skill review, carries a one-time $4.99 fee. Verification is complimentary for the first beta Reliqs.
For Reliq Seekers: Business discovery subscriptions are priced in the $4.99–$9.99 per month range for access to approved, opted-in contributors.
For exchanges: Reliq takes no commission. The value stays with the people creating it.
